Short Biography of Tom Wagner
I’ve been flying since 1994, and I earned my tandem license in 1998. In addition to flying, I enjoy kite foiling on Lake Thun and mountain biking. I’ve been the managing director of Paragliding Interlaken for 18 years.

Why Many Guests Come to Interlaken for Their Paragliding Flight
Many people search online for the best paragliding provider in Switzerland. Is it really that simple to say?
That’s difficult because “the best provider” can mean something different to every guest. For some, the view is the deciding factor; for others, it’s the organization, the language, safety, or the pilots’ experience.
But one thing is certain: Interlaken is one of the most famous paragliding destinations in Switzerland, and Paragliding Interlaken has been a well-established local provider for many years. We have the pleasure of guiding a large number of guests every year, and we are especially happy when they tell us after the flight that they felt safe and truly enjoyed the experience.
As a guest, how can you tell if a service provider is reputable?
A reputable provider communicates clearly and honestly. This includes information about safety, weather, weight limits, possible postponements, and cancellation policies. In paragliding, a lot depends on the weather. That’s why it’s important for a provider not to simply want to fly at any cost, but to make responsible decisions.
Reviews can also be helpful. If many guests say they felt safe, well-informed, and personally cared for, that’s a good sign. But what matters most is the feeling: Are my questions being taken seriously? Is there a clear explanation of what’s possible and what isn’t? That’s exactly how you recognize professionalism.
What makes a good paragliding flight for you?
A good flight doesn’t start once we’re in the air. It begins with the preparations. We always check the weather conditions first, explain the procedure to our guests, and answer any questions. It’s important to us that no one is simply “processed.”
Many guests may only go on a tandem flight once in their lives. We’re aware of that. That’s why we want to offer not just a safe flight, but an experience they’ll never forget. We want guests to understand what’s happening, build trust, and truly enjoy the moment.
Why is Interlaken so well-known for paragliding, anyway?
Paragliding Interlaken is a special place. Its location between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, the surrounding mountains, and the view of the Jungfrau region make for a truly impressive flight. At the same time, the region is very well organized for tandem flights.
The distances to the launch sites are short, the landing sites are easily accessible, and the procedures are well-established. This makes it pleasant for guests and allows us pilots to plan our flights in a very professional manner. On top of that, Interlaken has a long tradition of paragliding. You can really tell here that paragliding is an integral part of the region.
Woran merkt man, dass man bei einem Paragliding-Anbieter gut aufgehoben ist?
That’s a very important question. There are many professional providers in Switzerland, and ultimately, you should feel safe and well taken care of. A good provider explains the process clearly, works with experienced and licensed pilots, and takes the time to attend to guests.
At Paragliding Interlaken, we’ve been flying with guests from all over the world since 1990. This experience helps us a lot because we know that every guest is different. Some are just excited, while others are a little nervous before takeoff. Both reactions are completely normal. Our goal is for guests to feel well taken care of from the moment they first contact us until they land.

Employee Profile
I’ve been the managing director of Paragliding Interlaken since 2008, and I’ve been a pilot since 1994. I love going on solo cross-country flights. When I’m not flying, you’ll usually find me on the water, because kitesurfing—along with mountain biking—is my great passion.
In the YouTube video, you’ll see an interview with me where you can learn how to book a paragliding trip in Interlaken, whether people with physical limitations can fly, and much more.
