Short Biography of Mario Heller
I grew up in the canton of Lucerne and have lived in Interlaken since 2012. Being close to the mountains is a real privilege for me, as I am passionate about skiing, climbing and paragliding. My thirst for adventure often draws me far away on expeditions to distant countries.

This is what a paragliding flight in Interlaken feels like
Is paragliding possible in rain or wind?
Flights are operated only under safe weather conditions. Strong winds, thunderstorms, or unfavorable weather conditions may result in a flight being postponed or rescheduled.
Light rain does not automatically mean that a flight is impossible. The decisive factor is always whether conditions are safe. If wind, weather, or visibility could compromise safety, flights are not operated.
Paragliding Interlaken has decades of experience in assessing local weather conditions. This experience is very important because the weather in the mountains can change quickly. Safety is therefore always the top priority.
Can you go paragliding in winter too?
Yes, paragliding is generally possible year-round in Interlaken. Tandem flights can also be conducted in the winter if weather conditions permit.
Winter even has its own charm. The air is often clear, the views are beautiful, and the snow-capped peaks make the panorama especially impressive. The itinerary is similar to that in summer. The important thing is simply to wear warm, windproof clothing and sturdy shoes.
Where do you take off and land when paragliding in Interlaken?
Most tandem flights take off above Interlaken, often from the Beatenberg launch site at an altitude of about 1,350 meters. From there, you fly down toward Interlaken and, shortly after takeoff, are treated to a beautiful view of the lakes and mountains.
Landing usually takes place in the center of Interlaken, near Höhematte. This is very convenient for guests because the landing site is easily accessible, and after the flight, you’re right back in the heart of Interlaken.
What can you see when paragliding in Interlaken?
When paragliding in Interlaken, you get a breathtaking view of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. You can see the town of Interlaken from above, the Aare River flowing through the town, and the surrounding mountains.
On a clear day, the view extends far beyond the Bernese Oberland. The panorama featuring the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau is particularly impressive. It is precisely this combination of lakes, the city, and Alpine peaks that makes paragliding in Interlaken so special.
How long does a tandem flight last in total?
You should plan on spending about 60 to 90 minutes for the entire experience. This includes meeting up, the transfer to the launch site, preparation, the flight itself, and the landing.
Depending on the weather, thermals, and the package booked, the actual flight time is usually about 10 to 20 minutes. During the flight, the pilot can accommodate your requests. Some guests prefer to glide as smoothly as possible and enjoy the view, while others enjoy gentle turns or a bit more movement in the air.
What does paragliding actually feel like?
A paragliding flight often feels much calmer than you might imagine beforehand. After a short run-up, you take off gently and are carried by the wing. Then you glide calmly through the air, seeing valleys, forests, lakes, and mountains from a completely new perspective.
After the flight, many guests say they were surprised at how relaxing flying feels. It’s not just a thrill—it’s also a very liberating and fascinating experience. You glide over the landscape and have time to truly enjoy the view.
If you’d like a little more action, just let the pilot know. Depending on the weather and the situation, faster turns or slightly more dynamic maneuvers are also possible. These are always performed in a controlled and safe manner. Many guests find this mix of gentle gliding and a bit of action particularly exciting.
